Looking to get into fishing again. Bunch of my gear got stolen years ago and only have a 12ft custom Excalibur Rod( Henties Bay) left. I'm looking to buy a reel just to start some surf fishing and maybe some spinning. What reel would be the way to go for targeting edibles in the Western Cape. ( Cape to to Overberg)
The reel pries across the pond is much better. I can get Penn Slammer IV 6500 for R3100, Penn Spinfisher VII 5500 for R2350. Shimano Stradic 24 5000xg for R2400 and Saragosa 6000 for about R5000.
The slammer is looking like great value. What would the best size for to start off with.
