Red Roman at Witsand

This was a photo I took while waiting for boats to come in at witsand slip.

Can still remember thinking to myself ..."what is the use of only allowing us to catch 5 red fish when these guys can catch this much? "

These fish were offloaded from 1 commercial ski-boat.

This was when we were still allowed to catch 5 red fish per man. Also about 15-20 years back.

that was obviously in the old days when you got a A linefish licence that meant you could catch as much red fish as you liked, but you still had to adhere to size limits

this is why you battle to get a desent roman if go looking for them.nowdays youre only allowed 2.

Yip its a lot worse... Ive seen on many occasions where the commercial ski boats at kenton come in with so many red fish and undersized fish... including sharks! The fish and wildlife guys issue fines and then the next day the comercial ski boats do the same thing again... it makes me angry!
