I would strongly suggest you guys try to drain the juice from the Redbait , throw it in a Union bag hang in cool shaded area 2 to 3 days. I am not big into my Galjoen Fishing any more but some very experianced Galjoen hunters told me a long time ago you must get rid of the excess juice , this also makes the bait tougher .
You can freez Redbait , not the Vrot stuff though , Drian juice from it [leave it in a union bag for a few hours ], use a small bucket that seals . and you can freez it for
ages.
Or if you are scpetic you can freez the whole pod , takes up space but you bait will be 'beter' . Redbait pods can be adrift for long periods of time in the ocean , they dont go bad real quik , in the pods .

I wasn't aware that one should not freeze fresh red bait but rather dried red bait. I have some fresh red bate that I kept to use this weekend, will this work or not?
And something else, will anyone please be so kind as to place a pic of the presentation. I have never seen a red bait presentation and therefore im not sure if Im using it correctly and enough of it.
Sorry for sounding clueless, but that is just what I am!

Red bait goes vrot in the deep freeze! It gets a klankie very fast - by the time you get home with fresh red bait (with all its juice - very important!) it already has a bit of that sweet aroma!
I put fresh red bait with all its juice into jars and pack these in the deep freeze (standing upright because that juice will find a way out). Small jars are best - about 1-2 medium to big pods or at least 5 or 6 small pods per jar. One or two jars is usually enough for a session. Don't freeze the vrot stuff you collect on the shoreline by itself - always mix it with some fresh stuff - in that way you speed up the process as well.
As for presentation: I take a pod and cut it into strips with a pair of scissors. Take tow or three strips and hook it two or three time thru the strip being sure to leave some tassels hanging - looks natural enough. I never use cotton for securing red bait - I never use vrot vrot "red" bait - when it goes grey and slimy. I only use firm red bait with a light klankie. Works like a charm. Some okes swear by super-vrot aas - must say never worked for me!

If fishing in an estuary: over sand - sand prawn
over mud - mud prawn
Mud prawn easy-peasy - just take a large can with you (dog food tin perfect) and when you need mud prawn you just place can over holes and stomp it down - the mud prawn will pop out their burrows - and there you have fresh wriggling mud prawn as and when you need it!

Im gonna go and catch Grunter at De Mond estuary, but accrording to me it is not allowed to take prawns out, and I don't think they have mud prawns there, sand prawn only.
