Raider 14,6ft with Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke performance?

Hi Guys
I'm considering upgrading to a Raider 14,6ft as I'm not that comfortable on big waters like Sterkfontein and Jozini in my small cathedral hull estuary boat (non wet deck). I won't be going offshore, but I go to Kosi, Jozini and Sterkfontein every year. My tiller arm "tug 20" type cathedral hull boat has been magic for the Durban bay and for Bass dams, but not great on big water in the chop!!!

My question is? Is a 2 stroke 40 hp Yamaha 2 cylinder going to be satisfactory power for the Raider 14,6ft? I'm not looking to pull any water ski's or break any speed records, but she needs to hop onto plane and cruise comfortably with 3 adults? Motor would be power Trim and tilt.
Any info would be appreciated, including pro's and con's of the Raider 14,6ft

I did read this whole thread a while back. You would hope that these issues have been resolved?? The thing is, I like the size, layout and how manageable this boat is. There aren't many options like this?
Yamaha Explorer 465 also looks great, but different price point! Expression 440 is also ideal, but fair amount more expensive.(at the Expression 440 price I would rather go to the Yamaha Explorer 465) I also have quite a tight driveway to manoeuvre in, so size is important.

I had a 146 Raider, very nice boat but crappy build(maybe the new ones are better) The Expression 440 is the same hull and as a seagoing boat the hull is better than the Explorer 465.
A single 40 will be ok but will battle as you add weight, the best balance would be 2 x 30's or a single 50.....2 x 40's are too heavy for the ass!! I had a single Mercury 60 Bigfoot.

buying and keeping the boat is one thing.
if you not happy with it, do you think that you will be able to re sell it and not loose anything?

Dugongboy, how is the stability at rest on these hulls? Are they very rocky, or is it not too bad?
What sort of cruising speed and what was your WOT speed with the 60hp Bigfoot?

They are not too laterally stable, in fact the SkiVee 146 is more stable but this hull performs way better (and drier), you have to bear in mind that it is a small mono with a reasonable V.
I am not sure about the WOT speed but it can be calculated using the rpm/pitch calculation - I would guess about 60kph......all I can say is that she flew with the 60.....superb holeshot. Cruising speed is dependant on the conditions but with all my boats I sit at about 4200rpm/30kph for best fuel consumption and ride(my 18' mono does 40kph at 4800rpm and 45 at WOT) - I don't like hammering motors non stop.
