Hi Sealiner's,
when you guys fish for carp, do you ever encounter bull sharks? I am all the time hearing about bulls heading up the Amazon, Brisbane, Mississippi, Ganges and Breede. Just wanted to ask.

We dont have any bull sharks in our dams in South Africa, but we do regularly encounter Blue Bulls & Sharks Rugby supporters at our dams

In 1950 a bull shark was caught in the Luvuvu river, Kruger NatÍonal Park(about 500km from the ocean, via the Limpopo river through Mozambique). Another was claimed to have been spotted in the same river more recently. This system is full of crocs and hippos, but not carp fisherman. The world record was caught 5.5km inland in the Breede river, someone else from the area might have additional info on the Breede and it's bull sharks, or how far they go upstream. Those are the two stories I know, but I'm not well informed on the subject, or which rivers a bull shark would be able to nivigate upstream.

Yes the record is 4,000km (2,500 miles) up the Amazon. There have been attacks miles from the coast in Brisbane etc. There is a good picture of a bull caught in the Potomac.

The bull shark, is also known as the Zambezi shark or, unofficially, as Zambi here in South Africa.. I'm guessing because they swim up the Zambesi river..
