Queenfish

Hi All,

The queenies are making an appearance round here and I've never fished for them before. Planning to throw bait and / or live bait for them.

Any advice on rigs, bait presentations, favourite baits?

Thanks in advance,
Eugene

Howsit bud. normal running trace works well hey. otherwise drift bait or if fishing the flats use a float with a 1m trace

Queenies if feeding in major mode will not leave the artificials alone, jerkbaits, plugs, poppers, spoons, rubber squid which are commonly called skirts. Spoons will work as well. Rig the rubber squid ensuring it is about a meter 20 from a barrel sinker using a swivel as a stopper. Retrieve should be fast with a jerk action of the tip. Or a fast long pull, wind long pulll wind, long pull wind. Not sure of the live baits available in those parts, thrown from the shore should raise a pull. They also like white baits with bait floater..... preferably well beaten chokka presented with a couple of flapping tenticles . I will quickly sketch how to do this. Two meathods. Wait for it, will post soon.

Enjoy.

Ye I'm with cobia. They can't leave a halco twisty , white bucktail, gt icecream , or rapala skitter walk in white and chartreuse head. much more fun on surface lures.

Sorry about the sketch, sitting in my little lodge room, clutch pencil decides to say I am now history and gonna break so I hold that little portion of I think a mm diam lead between my thumb an pointing finger to deliver the sketch....if you cant follow what I am trying to show. I will repeat it. Dont wanna do the second sketch.....fingers are too tired.

Enjoy

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Special thanks to @Cobia777 for the efforts, I got your explanation, thanks mate.

From what I've read it seems these fish travel in schools and can get very aggressive, kind of like shad. Looking forward to giving it a shot on Friday, a few big boys have come out in a known spot over here.

Thanks again and tight lines all.
