Yello everyone.
It has been in my head and mind, to look at the possibility, in taking other anglers based in Gauteng on fishing trips down to St. Lucia KZN North Coast South Africa.
It will be more a past time thing, then trying at making a living out of it, life is just too expensive currently.
A fishing trip normally costs me anything from R 15 k upwards when i go down on my own.
Lets get to it:
This is to see, if there are any anglers out there, who would like to take part in such a trip where costs are shared.
So, just consider the following aspects on boating trips.
We are looking at getting the boat down there, to do more trips, this allows us to pull a venter if needed as space in a trail blazer 7 seater is not that much.
We can do boating trips to St Lucia, the game fishing is just in another class there.
so one would be looking at taking around 4 persons on a trip.
The costing is:
1. Travelling from Heidelberg/ Benoni to St Lucia is around 650km.
2. so one can work on 65 liters of diesel down and 65 up.
Then you have the boat towing fuel on the beech lets say 30 liters.
It would be safe to conclude a costing of R 3200-00 for car fuel.
3. Toll fees is around R 280-00 both ways.
So travel costs add up to around R 3480.00
if you divide that by 4 = R 870.00 pp sharing @ 4
4. On Boating trips you have the following costs.
a. Daily fuel of around 100 liters @ R 20 p/l R 2000.00
b. Daily tractor tow and push in R 200.00
c. Launching fees "isimangaliso" R 110.00 p/d
d. Two stroke oil R 250.00 on 4x cans.
Thus a daily launch costing would be R 2560.00 a day.
Fishing for the day R 640.00 pppd, this is if there are 4 to share costs.
If you want to go hunt in the deep, then a 150 liters can go quickly.
then your costs look like this:
a. 150 liter petrol @ R 20p/l R 3000.00
b. two stroke oil 3 liters R 350.00
c. tractor fees R 200.00
d. isimangaliso launch fees R 110.00
so a total of R 3660.00 p/d.
Costing of R 915.00 pppd if there are 4 to share costs.
Accommodation:
One will have to look at a trip of around 7 days in length, so 6/7 nights stay.
The reason why is that a rest day is present after 2x days fishing. the ocean just takes it all out of you.
so you have:
a. a travelling day down to St Lucia.
b. 2x days fishing.
c. 1x rest day
d. 2x days fishing
e. a day travelling back to Johannesburg.
a. Costing of R 200.00 p/n, so R 1400.00 pp for 7 nights
we will stay at www.villamiaholidayflats.co.za
This means:
a 5 day fishing trip considering everything would cost a person around, R 4800.00 sharing between 4x persons.
The above does not include drinks and food.
So, tell me, how many would be interested in such boating trips?
I will leave the rock and surf fishing for later.
let me know, thanks Pottie
