Good evening all, have a problem with boat rolling or veering to the right. When shifting load on deck to compensate it then rolls the other way with difficulty keeping a straight course. There is visible prop damage with 1 blade on port bent on the edge and a few nicks and chips on the rest of the blades on both motors. Where can I go for a good repair to existing and purchase good conditioned additional pair of props for reserve? What can I expect to pay? Can anyone put me in touch with someone in the Cape Town area please? It will be greatly appreciated.

Bent and damaged props will make your motors shake like a bastard and will cause dame to the gearboxes if not rectified. It shouldn't however cause steering issues, sounds to me like your trib tab anodes are out of whack or possibly need replacing. they are the anodes with the little fin directly above the props on the gearbox, make sure they are set dead straight and have a test run. On your Yamaha's theres a small rubber seal that you remove that will give you access to the bolt that holds it in place.
One other thing if your motors aren't counter rotating the boat is always going to favour turning in the direction the prop swings this is amplified if you have an old school cable steering system in stead of hydraulics, The purpose of Trim tab anodes is to counteract this to a certain degree by adjusting the thrust pattern of the props.
Thanks for the advice and info Cam Mundy. I am very new to the boat fishing scene and have lots to learn. I think the talk steer to the right I felt previously but it was the first time I felt the rolling motion, so bad asif the boat was going to go over on its side. This was in both choppy and calm river conditions at Breede. I tried it with bimini erected and down but result was the same. I then adjusted th fins on the anoids with little to no improvement. The conditions were considerably milder than the boat handled previously at sea. In her last outing from Miller's to Cape Point she handled the rough conditions on that day quite well. So it was a bit of a surprise that she handled that poorly at Breede. It was the first time back in the water since the last trip where she took quite a knock to the port prop in the shallows at Miller's. Result, quite a nasty bent tip to one of the blades. Lesson learnt again, cannot put boat onto trailer in the shallows without trimming or getting the trailer deeper into water. Trimming will have to be done manually, no auto trim and tilt). Could the bent tip on the port prop have made things that much worse (cavitation)?
