You can pump prawn close to Milnerton lagoon mouth. I park on the side road. Went there b4 the comp, but water was high and kinda yukky, pumped about 2 months prior to that and got my 50 in about 20 min, nice big one's. There is a sign there that show pumping for prawn allowed, but no cast nets

Do your "gangster prawn" come with thier own knives to kill the fish, or do you actually have to catch the fish? :breakd:
. i use these prawn in the Baan as well. the big stumpies go bos for them. the pink prawn is also excellent, but they very soft.Yes Brendan , the klip prawn is the best for the baan !! The pink ones get taken off to easily and normally u need more than one prawn. But with the Klip u can use one and its enuf. I pump them fairly easy by the yatch club in the baan. The other thing I noticed is that u dont need to go so far out for them like most guys do , . Most guys go till where the boats are but I can them in front and on the grass very easily. Use it dont use it.
PS - When do u normally fish the Baan ? I start Sept/Oct but I think from August might be productive , anyone ever fish there in August ? This is from the shoreline for stumps and not boating.

With pink prawn you need about 25, with "gangster prawn" you only need one. Should last whole day, just make sure he is "high" b4 you send him out on mission..:lol:1
Fish feeder, where's about at milnerton lagoon mouth to you pump. Can you give some directions.
I have heard the klip prawn theory for the baan. I have tried it but must admit, to me the pink ones work better. Not as tough, but then again, if you have prawn even from the morning, the bloukoppe simply ignores them , most of the time. I once fished the jetty and got a mother of a bloukop on a prawn that had no color.
. absolute see-thru but the school was in a feeding frenzy. Just love it when they in that mood - the big ones however. Not when the little ones are around to annoy you.
I ussually pump the prawn at Piet se gat and soma fish there as well. THe jetty is just too crowded for my liking. I have fished at the army jetty on occasion when Piet has seen his gat, and soma pumped there as well. klip prawn next to the jetty but it's hard work.
As far as pumping prawn before going to the baan, I would have to disagree on this as well. Firstly because the fresher, the better, and secondly, I tried that once when Milnerton was still giving prawn, but in the end was a waste of time trying to keep the prawn lively, when the baan is vrot of prawn - just seems a waste of energy. I soma pump while I fish at the baan. Pump 20 to start on, then pump while rod in the stand.
As for the time, i think late summer / early winter is the best time for the baan. Sure you will get you feesh when spring starts, but ussually late in the season is when the BULLE run. You blank more often but if you do meet the school, they big. I have yet to predict a wind for the baan. We have caught the bulle on NW, SW, SE. Just you luck on the day I guess

Ok , so the idea would be to pump the prawn the day before and take it home to the fridge , The next morning I will put them into a cooler box with ice packs on the bottom of the box and lotsa newspaper between the ice and the prawn so that they wont get wet, this way they will stay in their semi consious state until I take them out when I fish. I am confident this will work and will get back to you when I try it.
