Has anyone have any info about what the story is about that spearo that shot a potato bass near windenham(excuse spelling ) on the south coast this weekend??

Potato bass KZN south Coast

The Potato Bass was shot 3-4 weeks ago.The guy was arrested by the Park Board guys while he was dragging it off the beach near Cutty Sark. It weighed 22kg apparently and was shot off Scottburgh Point.
The local who shot the Bass is not 100% right mentally and is a bit of a strandloper and was given a suspended sentence,as far as I can remember.
Not a good story for the general spearfishing community!

Or a recreational angler selling his catch. Unfortuently it only takes one to make us all look bad and pretty much every fishing sector has a few of them.
Probably the fly fishing fraternity are the only exception.
At least he was caught and fined accordingly. Recall seeing it in the papers, the fine was quite steep if my memory serves me correctly

He is not part of our "fishing sector"
We take our sport very seriously and no self respecting spearo will do what he did.
My point is that he is a malpit with a speargun and not a spearfisherman.
We had the same in Knysna, where some bubbleblower got caught shooting fish with SCUBA and suddenly it was a spearo using scuba, while it actually was a Scuba diver with a speargun andf nogal the chairman of a scooby club.
Rant off ( comes from years of being treated like the ugly stepchild of fishing )
