While I agree that we should keep the community informed of dangerous fishing spots, the solution might be to create, encourage and support safe private spots.
Firstly I think that everybody agrees that quarries are no-go fisheries.
There are guys posting the development of private fisheries on this group(Mr Attie, Johanvc). Bravo to them! Our support, in what ever way possible, will encourage similar projects from other land owners. We keep them happy & going, they keep us fishing.
I am constantly on the lookout for a dam next to a farm road with a board: "Bass fisherman welcome"
I think that if private dam owners become aware of the extra buck to be made from fishing, we would see way more fisheries close to our cities. I would gladly pay R100+ to fish a "Bass Lake" 10 minutes from Pretoria in stead of driving out R200 petrol and pay entrance. Many of us save that money and effort for the weekends, but we still want a midweek 2 hour fishing spot on our front porch.
Fact is, the more fisheries we have access to, the less over-fished the existing ones will be.
Anybody with a spot that fits this bill, will have my, and I'm sure many other angler's, undying support and assistance.
