Hi

My brother and I am embarking on a spearfishing trip to Port St Johns this week-end to the next. Do you know of any specific spots one could try or areas we should avoid? Unfortunately we are without boat this time around.

Furthermore, do you know any spearo’s in the area we could meet up with?!

Kind regards

firtsly :welcomesea: I-Man.

Secondly , I'm not a spearo but have been to PSJ and surrounds. Avoid 2nd beach! ...theres been 5 + fatal shark attacks there in the last 24 months ...big Zambi's and tigers in the area. The waters from the mouth and south are normally quite murky so your viz wont be great anyway( thats also the reason for the many sharks) and with fresh shot fish close to you might put you guys in danger.

I would suggest you guys go up to Poenskop and the surrounds , there are lots af rocks and broken reefs within an easy swim from the shore and the viz should be better up that way...

Otherwise , give John Costello a visit...he owns the B&B Outspan Inn in the main road in town. He knows the area like the back of his hand and dives with the sardine run every year. He is also the NSRI commander ...always good to know someone like that in the areas you visit.

Give us a report when you guys are back

Hi Werries

Thanks for the heads-up. I am aware of the Bullies that is in the area.

Thanks for the info on John, I will most certainly look him up. We hope to report back with some proper FISH! :)

Regards

I-Man
