Hi all,

Does anybody have off shore hot spots way-points (0.5-3nm) in the Port Edward area? I would be greatful if anybody would be willing to share the info.

Hey Chuck,

I'm a novice and it is an ideal time to get my feet wet and learn from the pro's as I have only been out on my own a few times! There doesn't seem to be too much of a response to the comp from what I can make out, perhaps too soon after Guinjata?

I'm in the same boat m8, also a novice.

Contimplating whether to do the comp or not, also don't have any waypoints in that area, bummer. Experience might be worth it though.

You should enter if your time allows. If you need a partner out there I'm willing. Hell, two novices are better than one!

I managed to get accom at the resort across the road from the boat club and will be launching from the Port Edward ski boat club.

Sounds like a plan. What resort did you book and do you have a contact number pls. I will try and source as many way points as possible.

Hey Chuck,

I don't know the area at all but you can try www.wheretostay.co.za and type in Port Edward on the location. It will give you a decent list of establishments with contacts and prices.

Just confirm with the organisers if there is still space to launch from the boat club next to Port Ed Holiday Resort. If not and you have to launch from a near by boat club then it would make sence to book in closer to that specific boat club.

Got accomodation and I've entered, confirmed there is still space at Port Edward launch. In fact they can allow 60 launches and only have about 30 entries at the moment.

Now I'm excited. Definately fishing this weekend.

I am the event organiser, it is growing daily, we have 50 entries so far, we are going to give the guys some waypoints in their goody bags.

They are available, they are in the goody bag and will be given out Friday night at the briefing, basically the biggest edible fish either pelagic or bottom will go home with the jet value R148k. We will go through the rules on friday night and explain where the marine reserves are and the other nitty gritties.

Not sure who won but the cath was poor on the Saturday, the biggest fish by the closing on Sat was 11.2kg which was cought north of Port Ed. Those of us that went south only got a hammering when the wind turned to a NE by 8am and it was a safer option to return to base as the swells were 5m+.

I didn't even bother going out on Sun, the wind and rain was terrible and only the brave attempted the breakers at teh launch site from the Port Ed Ski Boat Club.

Somebody definetly did go home with a new ski which was a beaut!!

Hi Guys

A Yellowfin of 23.86kg was caught on Sunday off Port Edward so he was the lucky winner! Yesterday a few locals got some 20kg Yellowfin off Port Edward, you can plan as much as you can but not for the weather! Hope you enjoyed your time here with us.

We are going to port Edward on Friday. This will be the first time fishing off our own boat. Do someone have waypoints they are willing to share?
