Port Aransas Texas Fishing

Howdy Sealiners,

Just returned from fishing Gulf of Mexico in Port Aransas.

Ocean ecosystem is flourishing. Plenty of sea turtles, pelicans, lots of dolphins everyday to be seen close in. Couple of metres away.

The fishing is unbelievable, as is the manner of fishing.

Check jpeg for a surprise. lights used at night to attract fish.

If anyone is interested in seeing more pics just say the word.

These guys travel hundred of Kilometres weekend to fish.

Speaking of BIG Martin this Offshore Heavy Lift vessel passed about 75 metres from where we fish. Shipping Channel to Corpus Christi is DEEP.

So deep that the fish that have to be released air bladder.......

Well..... watch what happens at 5.05 min of video

https://youtu.be/nKFn-3FhwIA

Could not believe it when the guy next to me did the exact same thing to the fish!

We have fished for over 50 years and never ever seen anything like this!

Enjoy video Martin.

Wow..that is a big piece of boat!

FYI I've read research on deep water releases where most of the observed fish that were released with a swim bladder puncture died post release.. The only way really is a deep water release weight or system which is not very practical from the side?

Amazing everything works there I have also released fish same method out from Red Sands ,being in Canada you should also enjoy Salmon fishing?
Now I am jealous just thinking of fishing USA you are blessed

Sorry for the late reply Maverin,

Well, we fish for Tyee which is Chinook or spring salmon, Coho,Sockeye, and Pinks. the Pinks in Campbell river run annually whereas the others have 4 year cycles.

Tyee in coastal Indian language means "The Chief".

We have a Tyee club in Campbell River, and one has to land a 30lb (13.5Kg) Plus Tyee to become a member and have catch and equipment used, authenticated

by club master.

The line not be more than 20lbs breaking strain,Rod no longer than 6 feet, etc.

only to be caught from row boats in special demarcated area known as Tyee Pool.

No motor use allowed in this area. You may use motor to reach tyee pool.

For more info on Tyee club rules follow this link. www.tyeeclub.org

See pictures of members rowing special boats on their website.

You will find the info very interesting. Strict rules. Fishing at night, water very calm and flat.

Enjoy!

Dr Halibut,

I missed your 102 birthday in August. As per your profile.

DOB 1916-08-11

What is the secret to your longevity!

We do suspect tongue in cheek? Typo?

Please do tell.

Dr Hofmann was actually born in 11 January 1906, and lived till 29 April 2008, coincidentally making him 102 years old!

He was healthy, traveling and still performing lectures until his last year. His secrets were lysergic acid diethylamide, L.A.D. in english, or more commonly known by its German/Swiss nomenclature L.S.D. and not to take life too seriously.

;)

My birthday ain't in August, no stress, enjoy your day!

R.I.P the good Doctor. If I am so lucky to last like him, it is something to aim for.

Dr Halibut,

Thanks for educating us. Excellent gesture by you to memorialize

Dr Albert Hofmann. His excellent work deserves to be remembered in perpetuity.

That speaks volumes of you. I suspect the nexus between

you and Dr Hofmann is in the medical or science field.

Capetonian.
