Pomene Bara lodge

Hi guys.

We are planning a trip to Pomene (Bara Lodge) in June 2012.  It will be our first time to Pomene.  I would appreciate any tips or feedback from your experiences.  I’ve heard the sand road is bad.  I’m towing a 16ft SeaCat.  Is the road so bad that you can expect breakdowns or is it just time consuming?  Does the shop at the lodge sell the necessary essentials like drinking water and bread (Pao)?  Is the generator power reliable?  Do you only launce through the estuary?  What can you tell me about the launch?  I never launched through a river mouth before and I know it can be dangerous.  I know it is not ethical to ask for waypoints but maybe someone can give me some general waypoints to get me started.  As I mentioned; I will appreciate any comments, tips from your side.^^..

Thanks

we were there in december...been going to Pomene Lodge for about 4 years, twice a year now...the owners have let it decline slowly, when we were there there was no food at the resturant,no gas to cook the food.pretty pathetic.we are now looking at other places to go visit annually.I believe Neville and Wendy Ayliffe have left Pomene Lodge because of the slow decline of the Lodge...it's a pity because it is an amzing place

I also i suggest you take your own suppies along...basics like bread, beer and water arent a problem, can get from Pomene City

the road to the lodge is very long and nerve racking,it's most stressful part of the trip.go slow...rather get your boat/trailer there in one piece.if something breaks along the way it s along hot walk to help....

the launch thru the mouth is easy,as long as there isnt a big swell running, just follow the deep channels.I suggest you launch at high tide and return before or after low tide, the banks can get tricky and cut you off.just remember your route in and out the channels.

you can get waypoints at the lodge, they all are a fairly long run to the grounds but worthwhile.

hell of a mission but worth every minute...good luck

and take all the fuel you can carry...it's a 1.5 hour drive to the nearest petrol station.3 hour round trip !!

so take as much fuel your car/boat/trailer can carry.
we had 300 litres plus boat and 4 people..probably why we were stressing..
