Hey spearos

I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on diving spots in Plett, either from the shore or off a boat.

What species, fish abundance and weather needed for the spots?

Thanks Guys

Keurbooms is a good area and the reserve starts at the eastern side of natures valley.

Grootbank at keurbooms used to be a good place for Cracke, I dont know now.

Robberg is a no spearfishing reserve, but est towards Knysna, there are some good spots, but the sea has to be calm, because the diving is close to the side.

Thanks moggy! I will look into those spots. Do you have any specifics on entry points? Like co-ords or a satellite image?

Thanks!

GrootBank is still good for Cracker, Just one hell of a walk for a shore dive.

As moggy said, some nice spots at the Harkerville coastline and as he said you need a flat sea.

Becarefull if you shore dive towards the blinders infront of the B.I. Some big whites been spotted there recently.

When will you be coming up this way?

I dont know the shore dives, I only boat dived there in nationals.

You cannot launch a boat, through the Keurbooms river, with spearfishing gear on board, thanks to some naughty Natal boys in 91

Yeah, but im sure you can launch from the Beach with Spearing Gear with No Hassle...Altough i havent heard of anybody having hassels launching from Keurbooms.

Will b coming down mid december with my boat. Quite excited! Would also b cool to get some co-ords of the reefs there. Did a charter there once and we caught quite a few nice reefies.

and shoot some cracker, hottie, roman, gallies, occansionally a white steenie (I haven't shot one yet) etc. Most of the diving in that area is right against the side, but is dived by boat.

You must ask Hendry Reed for info, he is a friendly helpful guy and a very good spearo, but only fishes now, i think

Henry is my mentor...Hardly ever in the water without him, he still dives like a machine, he has taught me alot when it comes to anything to do with the sea, both fishing and diving related.

I can honestly say that he is probably the best spearo i have ever met.
