Hi Chaps,

I am sure someone in the forum could help me with a problem I encountered with my ski (Kawasaki STX 15)

This is the second time this has happened to me, and I just cant seem to get to the bottom of it, so here's hoping someone has some advise.

My ski has developed a very rough idle, and wont get to top speed. Its almost as if it has a dirty fuel filter.  I would be riding full throttle (limited power), and all of a sudden, FULL POWER.

If I ride it full throttle for a while, the problem seems to dissapear, but once its switched off and started again... back to square one??

All the plugs seem to be fine, not wet or eccessively dirty, and the ski was serviced at 15h, and has only done 35h.

Any help would be appreciated!

This problem is not uncommon, phone Dustin or Pm him he has a fitting to counter this. He posts under this forum as DUSTINMOTZ.

We were in Vidal a couple of weeks ago and "Jonnos gone fishing" was with us, he has  the same ski with the same issue but his also battled to start and honed of fuel, he took it to Fast Kawa in Rbay and turns out there was a campaign on them because the fuel tank nozzle breaks off in time.....Not sure if it is related but sounds all too similar.

Kawasaki had a recall in 2009 on a batch of fuel tanks that cracked near the funnel where the fuel cap hose connects.I think you need a new set of spark plugs in that ski.I have never had any motor problems on stx,s except for spark plugs fouling due to condensation or water .It is hard to see a bad plug on that 4 stroke.Put new plugs and carry a spare set and you wont have any problems.When you are done riding run the water box nice and dry and that will help your plugs last longer.Thanks Dustin
