HI all, just a note on good service I've had - i've been importing rods from Big Catch in Capetown for a couple years now. They have EXCELLENT support, I have imported around 16 rods and I've had a 3 separate failures on a butt section, a tip and a crushed guide which they've replaced with free complete sections NO problems. Damn good service considering I'm over 6,000 miles away in a another country...

Hi there,

Reading selected posts regarding the manner in which rods are maintained is interesting as I know that all my graphite rods must not be treated roughly. When not in use how would one store the rods, vertically or in a horizontal position? By the way I have a Loomis & Franklin 7ft "Trigya" rod and is a pleasure to use.

Ideally verical but all of mine are horizontal with 2 contact points on the rod, one near the reel seat and the other 1/3 of the way up the rod

If i may, i'd like to know if anyone here can direct me to someone local who can assist me. i bought a loomis HMG shockwave 2 piece for my wife, probably around 8-10 feet. on the 1st outing with this rod, my wife assembled it and i casted without checking! that was the last time i saw the tip. i just saw it flying 900m away lol. now i'm still sitting with the butt section. i bought it from big catch and they told me that replacement tips arent available. is this true? i wont mind buying another tip, the item number on the rod is:

F2534-90SHMG.

I'm not to clued up on the exact models but I know that from time to time only the fittings are changed and the new range comes out SAME Blank different finishing.

Many different brands also use the same manufacurer so although a different brand the tip may fit perfectly and work like a charm.

I always recommend going to the tackleshop and find the newer version of the same model of rod ie 2-4oz 12' then take your base section along and see if the new one fits and then order the tip if it is a match.

I went to Goodwood sports, and the "oom" there told me my rod has been discontinued. No tips available anywhere, so I guess I'm sitting with a brand new butt section which might make a cool gaff:uzi

Measure the ID of the female joint and go find one that fits, it'll most probably be an Elbe that fit's your rod or maybe even one of the Adrenalin rods.

Yes the butt makes a great mouth Gaff, 14/0 Stainless hook, grind the barb off, flatten the eye so it fits in the joint. Plug the whole lot with epoxy so it makes a reverse cone that can't be pulled out
