Now I am looking for feedback from guys fishing the Pinnacle.

Till I have the $$$ ready to buy one I will get the rest of my gear together.

You guys have shared a lot of info on gear, thanks its awesome.

Question on rods,

What rods do you suggest for pulling a sard with skirt and why?

I used a mates pinnacle a few weeks ago, honest opinion, not a bad ski at all. Nice and quick through the water (comparing to a stealth supalite) and quite stable. I found the dry hatches a bit limiting in size though, there are two and the openings are just too small for my crap I take with. Surf launching was not as tough as I had imagined and wasn't far off from the supalite's handling (arguably one of the easier skis to go through big waves with). I like the std adjustable foot controls and the deck layout. Just my 2c, look at the pro fisha and the popes before committing, they are all top ski's .... I actually like the popes a lot, the seat is a lot further forward which helps your centre of gravity going through tough surf and the dry hatch is in front of you, a little more refinement in hull design and they will be the one to beat, in my humble opinion!

As far as rods go, I use a 5.8 trevalla and a Kingfisher posidon for my ski use, the trevalla is great for jigging and ok for live baiting or dragging a sardine - and is capable of pulling out a marlin if you are lucky enough to get one!( it is a bit of a pain in the behind because the butt doesn't fit into a rod holder without modification), the posidon is made for ski use and covers all bases, for the price, a great rod. They are both short, have a decent bend curve and guides that are silky smooth - I like a tip that is slightly whippy for when the drag is set a bit tight, it helps give you a second chance to re-adjust it quickly when a big fish gets a burst of energy - a more rigid rod will mean an upside-down kayak and some practising on how to re-enter at sea.....

Thank you for your input.

I appraciate it.

I have big hands, if I ask Cliff to build one I will ask him if he cant make the two dry hatches openings bigger or combine it into one..

but if you catch a fish with a popes you need to dump your rods to fit it in the hatch.and it weighs a ton. pinnacle and stealth are gonna be your best bet.2 skis designed for fishing by passionate kayak fisherman.

I use a Pinnacle and am very happy with it stable punches through waves nicely and it is a  lot quicker than the Supalite that i had it has a bigger hatch and is a lot stronger as well.

Do your self a favor phone Cliff at Pinnacle 0845825322 tell Cliff Sprat told you to phone him and ask who the dealers for Pinnacle are in your area or you can arrange to come to Durban and take one for a paddle.

You wont regret it.

Hi I have 2 pinnacles and have put them through all kinds of situations of which a full on GW attack was the worst.
The pinnacle is absolutely awesome.

Hi.
I live in Richards Bay and I grew up here basically.
I started kayak fishing from age 19, now don't get me wrong I am no pro! 8 years ago I moved to Venda to go and mine .Came back to the cost about a year ago. So after lots of rock and surf fishing I wanted to get back onto a ski. now in those previous years I fished 2 pope skis one of them the very first models sold, the hatch deck could bold of so you could clean the fish hatch inside. They scrapped that design because i think it affected the over all strength of structure or something. Any way long story short after lots of research and day dreaming about the pinnacle elite and the stealth 595,and then lying on the bed to get rid of that (gat brand vir n ski feeling) I once again purchased a pope wahoo
for these simple reasons, 1: I weigh a 138 kg 2: A pinnacle and stealth costs just over twice the price of the pope ski o and did i mention the pope comes with paddle and back rest for a measly R5900,00 custom colouring to your spec's and you can ad or have a rod holder removed or moved on the original deck lay out pinnacle R10900.00 if not mistaken , to get the stealth i like id probably have to win the lotto . 3: I personally think that the pope has the best deck lay out of all the skis out there have ( for a really big person )

I hope this has some value to your decision ill post some picks of my pope .

I agree with trev11 paddling becomes very tiring and you want the right ski for the job.
When buying a ski think carefully cos your choice will affect how you fish.

One can purchase the Elite for R9800 or you can get the model before the Elite for R6800

I already have a paddle and accessories.

Hi

Wacman

Do you still have the 2 x Pinnacles? If so are you by any chance looking to unload one of them? I`m looking to purchase one or swop a Steath Evo 430 and Stealth Supalite X for a Pinnacle Elie. Maybe you know of someone who may be interested.

My e-mail markk@battery.co.za

Thanks a million.

Hi Gerhard

If you are new to ski fishing the pinnacle elite is the way to go. Strong stable more than enough space for everything. and much cheaper than the stealth.

From my own expierence I started of on a wavemaster wich is basicly a rescue craft. then paddled a brand new stealth supalight x. and i was extatic about it. as i grew in the sport I bought a stealth evo and man it was a great ski. Then won a pinnacle elite in a comp. Needless to say the evo started to gather dust. Thats how good the pinnacle is.

Yes i am back on a stealth pro fisha now. Grew some more in expierence and needed some more woema. But i can tell you If you havnt fished from a ski before and fished from the pro fisha you would pack up and say no more ski fishing.

Get the pinnacle get experience and then decide wich way you go. The pinnacle is more than good enough to keep up with your mates on other skis. My old man swears by his pinnacle. A great ski to learn and grow.
