please explain to me how to post a picture, thank u

Hi Brazzo,

If you wanna post only 1 picture with your post, click on the browse button at the bottom of the reply box, search for your picture & select.

Remember your picture must be smaller than 2Meg's.

If you wanna post multiple pictures on one post, follow the instructions in the attached thread:

When I go on to post a pic there is no browse option. What other option do I have so I can post a pic please.

is there anyway to post a pic in a pm?

Yes you can, but the pic has to be hosted and accessable on the http://WWW.

In either a post or a PM include the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Example...to include the Sealine Logo in this post or PM you would use this path

http://www.sealine.co.za/attachment.php?id=2134

Include the prefix
i] and the suffix [i][b][color=
and this will be the result.

attachment.php

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this makes sense?

None at all. Please explain again :D

I'm having a lot of problems uploading pictures. Mostly get the 'website not found' or some 'server error'. If you keep on trying it eventually goes through, but it's bloody annoying.

In some cases the text message goes through (appears after some time) but the picture doesn't, resulting in double posts.

Would probably be that the pictures are to big.

Open a folder on your desktop called sealine

Go to the folder containing your pictures you want to use.

Right click on the pictures,

Select the send to option then select the Mail Recipient option

When asked if the picture should be made smaller say yes (with windows 7 select the 600 x 800 option)

When the mail opens go to the attachments, select all and drag them to the sealine folder.

Your 2-4mb pics will now be 35-60kb and will post like a charm.

Failing this download a free version of VSO resizer and once installed right click the pic and select the resize with VSO option. In the resize menu select the Sealine folder on your desktop as the destination folder and use the 600 x 800 resolution option

Now when replying and selecting the choose file option your pic will be loaded without hassle - Seriaas

Thanks, I'll double check, but the pictures are not that big. I scale them before uploading in any case. They do load after a couple of tries / double posts though.

I find the failsafe is if the pics are less than 100kb. Even 400kb can take up to 20 minutes, depending on the level of traffic on the site.

Word of advice is to click on the post reply button once and then wait till the page refreshes.

Once you click the post reply button move the mouse pointer just up from the button and you'll see a "BUSY" icon, meaning it is uploading the pic, so don't click reply, again, wait for the process to finish and refresh

Hiya Enigma,

Are you saying it takes you that long to upload or down load a pic from Sealine? It takes me all of about 5 seconds at the most to view any pics on sealine and I connect via un-shaped 512 ADSL.

When you insert a link to an external image, ie an image not stored on Sealine, you firstly rely on your own bandwidth and then that of the site where the image is hosted.

Images stored within Sealine database will rely on the speed of the forum s/ware to query and return the image data, then the site and user bandwidth to download the image data.

@Fanie...think it will take more than another post or a PM LoL! I intended to only answer the original question about posting pics in PM's...but got carried away. Not sure how you connect to the Internet, but many companies and some private security s/wares hamper or restrict the functions of web forums as far as uploading / downloading images, links, file extensions and apps?

Could be many causes and I'm not clued up enough to pinpoint the common causes. Would be a good idea to have a thread where we could ID some of the more common issues members have and then use the collective knowledge of Admin and our members to solve these ensuring we all get the benefit of this great site?

Hi Trophy,

Thanks, good idea to have a collective knowledge base on this.

No restrictions on my side, connected at 10Mbps. Takes me longer to restart wondows than to downlosd and backup the entire internet :-D

Hi Brett, no only when trying to upload a pic larger than 400kb, even though it says up to 1mb.

Viewing etc is no problem, also I think it'll save hosting space on the server and pipe data transfer if the pics loaded are as small as possible an to be able to continue viewing.

What also helps increasing speed is to clear your browsing folders at least once a week.

same as Brett, Takes me about 5 sek to upload a pic.

Hiya Enigma,

Whats interesting...again I'm no expert on these things, but your typical ADSL connection advertise only the download ability of the various product offering / packages.

Because the connection is un-shaped they keep the fact that the bandwidth will vary depending on the general traffic of all other users that share your connection point.

Upload ability is always less than the download and suffers from the same effects as more users become active in your area.

It may be possible that you have some heavy users in the area! LoL
