perfect medium surf combo

Hi all,

I want to put together a medium surf kit. Im trying to put together more specialised kits for certain situations and not just the genwral all rounder kits.

My light kit is currently a Kingfisher Poseidon 13.6 T36 hmg 3-5 oz rod combined with a penn farhom 25N and and 50lb powerpro braid. This is a lovely light and sensitive combo that I use in places like langebaan and scratching anywhere and it can handle some serious fish.

The medium kit that I want to put together will be used at places like Pearly beach and Struisbaai areas. Basically a surf kit for fishingainly steenies, kob etc. My requirements are that it needs to be light, sensitive and must be able to cast as far as possible. I would like to use it with 6 or 7 oz sinkers.

I was thinking a Shimano Technium Medium with a Penn Fathom 30 with 0.40mm Sufix braid. Any other recommendations? I really like the Penn Fathom and recon for esibles its one of the best options.

Hey Eight!
Out of all the custom rods, I always come back to my BM T53/6. (one piece)
When the rod was new it was a quite stiff but now the blank has matured its just right!!
Coupled with a size 20A shimano its just lekka man.
One day when it gives up the ghost, I will go straight back to get another one!
Its not quite a medium set up like you looking for but worth a look at.

The other rod is what "Kalf "is using. Enigma`s DC oval 6/7oz, a little bit heavier in weight but worth its`s weight in gold! (very nice option for a 3 piece rod)

We use these mentioned rods for hotties to rags always a pleasure.
