I would like to share some pictures of 2 penn torque reels i serviced for a buddy. Both are the 40 models, the largest spooled models as they are used for shark fishing. The one required more TLC than i would have preferred in terms of corrosion .
On this one the spool shaft had started corroding and was showing signs of pitting, this i cleaned up on the lathe and then high speed polished it to get it totally smooth again. Spool bearings were replaced also and the general JJ TLC i give reels made the difference to getting it back into tip top shape again for shark fishing.
Look at the build of the reels and how the insides are made. You can compare them to your own reels to see what they are all about.
Have a look at the before and in service progress pictures to be able to compare the end result.
