Paternoster

I recently won a freshwater comp where the prize was a week in Paternoster. I'm heading there on the 11th and hope to try my hand at salt water.

I have a 13ft Okuma rod and a Daiwa Grandwave reel and a tacklebox full of all kinds of sinkers hooks etc.

Please be so kind as to give me advice on what I can catch using what bait (where to buy as well) and any tips you might be willing to share.

I'm looking at targeting edibles only and wouldn't want to target any monsters - I wanna relax not work - haha

Also - can one purchase fish and crayfish from the bakkie fishermen and are they expensive?

Thanks in advance...
Gert

You can target some really nice Hotties out there, you will need to drive into the nature reserve to fish though.....pm Wayne he lives in that neck of the woods.

Be very careful about buying Crayfish from the guys opposite the Hotel under the Trees, you may just find an Inspector behind your back, but then again these guys are so clever, they have there own Guards on the look out. Good Luck, I would go down to Tieties Baai, into the camp site to the left.

LOL - you'd think we're talking about drug deals here - is it illegal for the subsistence anglers to sell their catches? What are they suppose to do with it? And what about fish? are they allowed to sell that?

Wayne says the water is quite rough and dangerous at Tieties - I'm taking my 6 year old son with me - and would rather just sun my ass on the beach than put him in harms way.

I think it's safe to presume they're gone. The place where I'm staying bitched like crazy about me wanting to come in "high season" but in the end they told me they have loads of space from next week.
