Overwinds with Baitcaster reels

i'm sure there are a few other guys here on this forum that would like to join us in the hunt. I dont have bass tackle so i'll just watching n learning from u guys

I'll be the "Official photographer" , for when u guys land them monsta's.

All them Aliens (the wifes) think we are NUTS, not to mention the part where she scream that "there's no balance, Everything is JUST about FISHING, fishing this and fishing that.

Ahh well, the'll never fully understand the reasons, standing next to or in the water as the sun rises and the surface of the water truns into a frantic explosion as tha green thang tries to escape, haaaaa, the joy that, that brings to a man's heart, undescribable.

So Join the club at not really being a pro but trying to get there and sometimes upsetting the Better half, hehe.....

Oh no you don't!!! I am sure we can organise you a rig of sorts.... But yes, bring the camera..

With you and your martial arts around, we might even be able to go to some of those "rough" places

If the Martial Arts thing doesn't work I can always talk them into submission in foreign languages... hehehehehe

Luckily the garage is off-limits by her own design/choice and like they say, what the eye doesn't see won't hurt the heart.....

She'll find out sometime or another, I know.   But then it's "No I've bought it a long time ago"

Guys, the safest way to "hide" your newly acquired equipment is....just make sure they are all more or less the same colour. So, every time you pull out a new rod to go fishing, she'll think it's the same one you bought first time around......

Do I understand you correctly when you suggested that there be a fish-off between the "Freshies" and "Salties"?. Did you know that the country in which you reside is basically landlocked. I'm not sure you will be successful in landing any salty fish in Gabs, unless they're from a little tin called "Luck Star Pilchards".......:dunno1. You may find that standing on or near a beach would be a prerequisite to landing salt water fish....

What I was suggesting was perhaps a Bass fishing contest in Durbs and the next day we fish for Shad??? I dunno, just a thought

If its this year I can't make it anyway, but it certainly will be fun

Hi All

Personnally i can tell you anyone can cast with a baitcaster and yes there is big differences between cheap and expensive ones but that said, i tought my wife of 9 years to cast with a baitcaster in about 5 minutes and she keeps getting better and better each time we go fishing. The procedure mentioned at the top is the way to go but also instead of trying over hand cast to start try small under arm casts as it makes it much easier when you are learning. I use the following and find that besides the distances they all cast the same, Daiwa Tournament 100, Okuma VS200 10 bearing, Tica Sculptor 12 bearing, Shimano Calais 10 bearing, Okuma Induron 8 bearing,  Team Daiwa SOL, Shakespeare Cheapie and a few more and all of them my wife can use without even thinking.

I will admit that when i started learning to cast i would cast with things like penn 49's ( still have ) and the likes so it came much easier to me. But don;t give up on them. If anyone in Durban area wants to learn to use them then drop me a msg and i will get you casting in an hour max.....

That's the spirit.  Keep it up.  Like I said I gave a Penn 49 away, FOR FREE, really, no BS, cause I just couldn't get it right.

And what you said about the difference in price ito quality, etc. well, I cast much better, more accurate and have less overwinds etc with my Quantum PT Energy than what I had with my Shimano Crestfire.

But again, the under arm casts, man I forgot to include that in my original post, but Oh so true, much, much easier that way, especially with rod's that have stiff or heavy action properties.

Now, if some-one still cannot cast, they should just read all these posts again and really go and try, and they will not be able to say I tried and it didn't work without lying, if they have applied everything just as it is mentioned.

I couldn't believe how easy it was when I got it right and that was without any guidedance or tips like these.
