Overwind when spool is released

I recently re-spooled my reel with some Sufix Synergy (0.45mm).

Since I did the re-spool I get a lot of overwinds say every 3/5 casts. The overwinds happen just as I release the spool and the sinker has travelled about 20m, it seems as though the sinker/main line loses a lot of speed thus the overwind happens.

Anyone have any idea as to what the can be the cause of the overwinds?

Setup:

Okuma MG30

Blue Marlin G3 (light tip)

Sufix Synergy 0.46 main line, 0.55 Perlon Leader

It would be difficult without actually seeing you cast,but possible solutions to be eliminated one at a time (NB!!!) could be.

1)When you respooled you possibly overfilled your spool.(30-50meters more or less line can make or break the user-friendlyness of a reel,less would always be more overwind-friendly)

2)The sinker that you are using is too light for the size reel and line class.(pulls away like a Ferrari but looses momentum rapidly from the weight of the line-mismatch)

3)Your casting action,jerky,instead of a smooth build-up towards release

Try and eliminate them as mentioned one by one.

thank you. I will try it, though I think may have overfilled the spool as everything else (my tecnique and sinker weight) is the same as before the overwind started.

Pleasure Fanie,if all else is the same, including line diameter it is quite possibly the line-level.Sufix is not a line renowned for undue overwinds.Please let us know.

Do all as Kitefisher explained and also tighten your spool setting a bit more. It may also be that your spool is running to free.

Problem Solved!!!

Het so (ek skat) 20 - 30 m lyn afgehaal en geen kraaines gekry nie. Ek het gister en vandag gaan lyn natmaak en NIKS (behalwe toe my leader besluit het hy wil nie meer nie)

Only a pleasure,the sharing on Sealine makes it well worth being a member here.What would be ideal is to know exactly how much line you have on that particular reel now that you have it under control,and to fill it with the same amount everytime you re-spool,with that same brand of line(removes the guessing and instills confidence).

.Not all lines are exactly the stated diameters that they claim to be,and although it is going into nitty gritty it can make a difference ( i.e. thinner than stated,more prone to overwind and vice versa,NB, for the same amount of line ),If you cast without overwinds on a windless day,then you can make minor adjustments when fishing into the wind or at night,or have a ''floppy''bait by using the endcap on the handle-side ,like Simen suggested,to decrease the spool rattle.Not suggested for long periods as it could lead to early bearing failure depending on reel design.
