I guess I can answer this the same way the question was answered in the Saltwater section.

There are many, the question should rather be "How many reliable and good outfitters are there"

Cost -- varies from venue to venue, and what type of package is wanted.

Hi Simen

Thanks you are right the question should have read how many reliable Outfitters and Guides for Freshwater fishing and/ or Bank Angling do we have. The other part of the question would also then change to what would you expect to pay for a reliable Outfitter and Guide for Freshwater fishing and/ or  Bank Angling.

I saw on the eco catch web site that they advertise fishing trips with Hein Henning. Might be a good starting point for you to look at.

The first part again, sorry no definite answer but I have suggestions.

Firstly say you want to fish venue x, try and find out by guys who have been there, local tackle shop, where you are going to stay, who they recommend to be the best guide for that specific area/venue.

They are seldom wrong as bad guides get forgotten very quickly.

Ok now the cost.

I mentioned it depends on.

Travelling distance

Is the guide travelling with you

Are you travelling with him

Does he make the accommodation arrangements

Is he responsible for food packs

Does he supply the bait

Do you use your own equipment or his

Does he bait up and cast for you

How many members in the group.

What I am trying to say that there is no fixed and firm price, it all depends on the package.

You can sometimes pay as little as R500-00 for a morning session for does not matter how many anglers as you have taken care of all the arrangements yourself, the guide on puts you onto the fish.

Then again you can pay as much as R1500-00 p/p for the same session as he does from brush your teeth to tie your shoelaces.

Have seen guys pay R3000-00 p/p a day. All they did was phone and say "this is what we want arrange it"

Cost varies according to demand.

Thats about my best answer.
