That tackle's fine for Mr Garrick purely because it's a gentleman of a fighter. You don't say what line/braid you got on but 15-20lbs tackle is fine for Garrick, just fish a hard leader for landing the fish on the ledges below.

If the Sards come by close and the GT and young yellowfin are with then you may be looking for a hiding.

Landed a 10.4kg Garrick there on a 9' Awa-Shima 4 piece spinning rod with a side 5000 light spinning reel with 300m of 15lbs braid while fishing Dropshot for Shad.

THanks for that info, I have .47 line and use 3.5m .70 leader and 150 m braid backing, this is what we use down in the EC. I have never caught GT or yellowfin but have manged 6kg yellowtail with a Stanley plug on this rig

If you don't land a fish with that spinning rig, especially the rod (it's a beast) then your chances with anything else wouldn't be much better.

Bonus is you can throw plugs and spoons all day with the outfit.

When are you going to be there?  I'm going to be doing some reef fishing while waiting for the Sards to come in.

I'll need a fishing partner at Splash rocks, I like fishing for sharks at night but the usual team is not going to be there and I don't want to get the fish on when alone, last year landed a 209cm and 234cm (PCL) Raggie and a heap of greys 9- 60kg in 3 nights fishing (need the right water conditions)
