Hi guys can you please give me your opinion on the Catalyst 100 baitcaster
I just got one from a friend and i do not know it 

 

i use to only use the spinner tipes

there is .18 4.5 kg high abbrasive donot know what els line on there 300m of it should i take it of or would that be ok for now

Must be Awa Shima line,

No leave it on, very good line, might be on the light side if you hook a 3kg bass but then again you can just set your drag and play the mother.

Also, get yourself some 12lbs flourocarbon line and tie a leader to the front, about 1.8 - 2 meters.

I went to http://www.tackletour.com but thry do not talk to much about the drag limits and so on they just cover the basic

 

ALSO wats your look on the SHIMANO CASTAIC can it be used for more than just bas fishing

Hi,

Never heard of this reel before but I am sure you can use it for bass.

It might not last for very long if you catch a couple of 2kg bass but for anything smaller than that it should be ok.

Just make sure you service it regularly.

Try and get a baitcaster that has more bearings the more it has the smoother it is.
What fish species do you want to target with it?

Wel ryan i did not buy them i got free so i was wondering what they are good for here is only barbel and yellow fish

but i am not sure how mutch they can take

Any reel you get for free is a great reel....hehe
Not really the ideal reel for either of those two species....
Barbel - you need bigger reels.

What do you do in Rosh Pinah - wanted to visit that part of the world for a long long time

Let me put it this way.

Scenario 1: Honey I need a new reel, reply - Ag babes if you really need it yes, go ahead.

Then I would say go get yourself a strong reel.

Scenario 2: Honey I need a new reel, reply - How much? you say, ag only N$2000. She says, What?

Then you use what you have and keep quiet.

In other words, if you have it, use it if your wife allows you to get a new one, grabb it with both hands!
