Ebay! Ebay! Ebay! If you buy at a store mainly, you are being ripped off.

You guys can moan all you want about ebay. I have bought so many items from there with only one item not arriving. And it was lost in our customs. You only enter your credit card details once on ebay and then once on paypal and your done. I have bought everything from guitar and bass strings, (half the price that u pay here including shipping) Guitars and basses, Lures (obviously) Cds dvds you name it. from all corners of the globe. My guitarist from my band "STELLITIUS" introduced me to Ebay and he buy a S@#t load of stuff all the time he has been doing it for years and has only had one bad experience. And did you know that you have a claim if you don't receive the goods or not happy with it in any way.Paypal will cover you and start an investigation as to what went wrong.

I'm questioning the maths here...
This means that anything you buy that exceeds US$88 will attract the 45% shipping and handling charge.
Anything under US88$ and they bill you US$40 shipping and handling.
So it does not make any difference if a group of people make one order. The stuff you buy will still be subject to an additional 45% shipping costs and when each guy pays his share, it will be according to the value of his order.
If you take the Rand-US$ exchange rate at a round R9/US$1, a US$88 order + US$40 shipping = US$128. Converted = R 1152.
But go over the US$88 threshold and see the prices jump
US$ 150 + 45% s&h = US$218 converted R1958
US$ 300 + 45% s&h = US$435 converted R3915
US$ 400 + 45% s&h = US$580 converted R5220
Plus the guy who pays with his credit card also carries a foreign currency conversion fee that varies with each bank. And finally, SARS wants a piece of the action too with some customs duties charges that fluctuate with the weather.
I dont want to discourage guys from buying from the US. But you should know what you're in for in terms of costs.
