hey guys,

just wandering if there are any safe one night venues close to JHB...

Hi Flea

I am not a big fisherman but we spent a few days at a place called "Heritage Lake or Heia Safari" and its situated in Muldersdrift. Its a massive lake and the water is cleaner than the stuff we get from taps. There are hundreds of roaming bucks and other wildlife and its just an awesome venue. Its well worth a try.

That is where we stood, across from that tree and my mates caught a few 3kg karps. It is really a nice, clean venue and u wont be sorry.

I have just sent them a mail asking if art lure and/or fly fishing is allowed. I like the rules they have; you will not find the "papgooiers" there, or anyone mistreating fish. or any "dronk gatte" with "doef doef" music...

Yes it is allowed. Even taking a small boat and spinning for bass is allowed. The owner manages that water outstandingly, and yes you are not even allowed to make a fire there. What does it for me is all of the animals roaming around, u can actually touch them. Another cool thing about the water there is that its massive, u have more than enough space to do your thing. The only small issue is that they have some water hyacinthe there that comes down with the stream. R100pppd for fishing is fine with me, Illl rather spend more money and have place like that to fish off than free and no one cares about anything. Its a real gem.

Hey Ayoba.

Just thought about it now, u are not allowed to overnight with a tent etc. BUT, there are nice bungalows there that is about 70m away from the water. Ur wife will have her comforts as well. I know alot of guys want to spend the night in a tent there, but i dont mind having a dry bed and shower.:)

The only thing i would also add on is that IF you are staying over, stay away from their buffet dinners. Their restaurant is VERY expensive and not worth it. Stop at Pick and Pay or spar beforehand and do some shopping, it will definitly save you some pennies in the long run. These are some of the things that you need to be aware of.

But other than that.... its great.

Yes we did Ayoba.

I think they set the rules upfront so no one pushes the boundaries. I prefer it that way.Keeps the nonsense out

Pleasure. But u can be well assured, that is the cleanest dam i have seen in years. U can actually see a couple of meters deep.
