A few years ago the drag washers on my second generation Torium 30 started acting up as well as the cast control bearing on my Speedmaster IV. A friend of mine who is a qualified fitter and turner offered to repair it for me for next to nothing. The repair lasted exactly two tears to the month. I then sought out Jonathan Willams aka Old Salt here on Sealine who installed the bearings for me when I got it brand new.
What a sight it was when he opened both of them. He sent me a list of incorrect assembly issues and I almost cried when I found out that both models were discontinued and parts are chicken teeth. But, there was Jonathan who had stock available of all the parts and after sonic cleaning and installing multiple parts for next to nothing, I got both my reels back brand spanking new!
Below are just a few of the before pics which is horrifying to say the least. And lastly a pic of the repaired Torium.
Well done Jonathan on two proper resurrections! I dub the John the Baptist from here on.
