Old debate of the Tackle Box

I was looking through old treads regarding tackle box and the weight to carry over long distances. when to the army surplus store to buy a frame but walked out with the battle jacket. the best chooce i have made. here is two pics regarding the jacket. and believe me everything i need fits in the various pockets. the weight spread evenly over shoulders and waist. I tested it this december and actually assisted other friend carrying their tackle.

i picked it up for R300, but i see it is R450 now. i removed some of the pocket dividers, you have more space to play.

die mense het my snaaks aangekyk toe ek my "tackle box" aantrek en begin stap. na die eerste 100m wou hulle net weet waar om so een aan te skaf.

It looks great, don't worry my current tackle bag is actually a modified baby carrier and is pink and purple! you must see the looks I got when it was still new and I pitched up at league events. I have many bags but for surf fishing it is by far the best for me.

well uncle bob i dont think any baby tackle box the purple and blue can quite match the avatar, i like the bag and it deffiatly looks like the next step to me in regards to comfort, it would be great for those long walks but only for a day , the only prob is the fact that cant put a big bait box on it whicj means you gotta carry it which get lank heavy, but all in all i really smaak it

the avatar carrying the bag would be something to behold! some Saterday mornings I probably look worse than the avatar.

Damn that battle jacket just gave me flashbacks of my days fighting the "enemy" fully loaded with 50 & 30 round magazines, water bottle and my girlfriend (R4 rifle) hooked on to relieve the strain on my arms.

Phew.....back to real life

i used 2 old caribiners from my abseil kit and have a small coleman coolbox clipped on to the back. i do not even feel the coolbox. holds enough bait ( 2 kg pillies, 1kg mack and 1 to 2 nice whole chokkas). the next step for me will be a DIY heb cooler re-enforced. will add a nice braod soft shoulder strap to it, because i always take too little refreshments with. i add my tins of beer of cooldrink in a ziplock bag with the bait. this why it doesn't chill directly in the fishy fluids.

tuna, i am not kitted correctly for sharks as yet, but the heb cooler box will be big enough to hold a bonnie or two as well.

the lower curved lpiece of plastic is a back support and is very comforable. kumz made his own break away box and its far more comfy than mine if you have a wider arse, you can search it in the duy section

inside i fit 8 litre cadac cooler back for either the cold ones or a max of 4 small yellowtail heads and 3 makis, for the afternoon, for more bait i strap a 25litre double deadly chiller to the top.
