OLD AMBASSADEUR NINE :

Cuban Cigar

Sealiner
Was sent a bunch of reels from Namibia, amongst them, a couple of old AMBASSADEUR TEN reels and a lone, narrow spooled mod NINE.

The NINE has a broken clutch lever spring and I would really like to help the owner, to get this "oldtimer reel" going again .... can anyone please help with this little spring ?

The spring fits under that short, black, toggle/rocker type clutch lever and then hooks through the side plate to stay located.

Jip, working through someone who deals with the directly, on a regular basis !

Interestingly enough, becausae of the "cam-action" of this shortened type clutch lever, thd reel still functions perfectly without the spring, but you still have thd risk & worry, that you might bump the lever into the freespool position by accident !

sourcing the original part is ideal but wouldnt another clip of similar dimensions work (as a last plan)

That is "Plan B", but it is a rather odd little offset spring, made from much thinner gauge# wire than most other clutch dprings in mainstream reels .

Another option might be, to take one of the other ABU TEN reels and strip & remove the spring, then take to one of the spring manufacturers to "duplicate" ...

Hi CC Have a look @ the old Daiwa Sl250H ( red line on black bakalite frame)..It has a simular spring...It just might fit.

i opened the old sl30sh last night and checked the anti reverse pawl spring, it seens to be of thin wire and has enough wire (to be cut and bent/twisted) to make the little dog-leg as per the original
