Hi Serra

Have a look at the 7mm remmington magnum aswell it has almost the same velocity as the .270 just with a heavier bullet

just my 2c

kind regards

Thanks guys will do, I have been in contact with various sellers/Gun Shops, BUT.....I will be ready next year.

What's strange to me, for example say you looking for a .270 (like in this case) the price varies from place to place, town to town - same brand same same, some as much as 3 grand!

Throw a dog a bone, should you know of any dealers, good pricing, send me an email address - that way I can shop around.

Cheers

morning

What i can suggest is look in the magnum and on guntree and shop around until you find what you are looking for some places a crazy with their prices.
Do you want to buy a new or second hand rifle?

kind regards

Thanks, I buy some hunting magazines monthly, they've become an enjoyment as oppose to fishing magazines - which covers the same topics over and over again....LOL (Just my not so humble opinion)

I have checked out Howa - affordable, in fact it was the Howa that had such price difference. from R 8000 - R 11 500 for the same rifle!

I would prefer to buy new, I have the time - so no rush. As I live in Moz, so I will be doing a hunting trip per year, so I take it, an expensive known make will be a waste of fishing tackle money?

Again, any suggestions welcome.

Thanks for your reply buddy!

There is a gunsmith in ermelo Ralph badenhorst he built my 7x57 maybe give him a call just Google gunsmiths in ermelo and you will find his details.
Hope this helps

The shop's name is Wildman, its on the CNR N4 ROAD & KAAPSEHOOP ROAD. Talk to Leon.

Before you go, give me a shout and I will contact Leon to help you out.

Hi Serra

A mate of mine doesnt rate a 270 at all if you hunting to keep the meat as it causes too much damage.

Another interesting aspect is the barrel gauge. Heavier barrel more accurate but heavier if walking and stalking but worth exploring possibilities.

Theory on barrels is thinner materials gives higher rate of expansion and contraction when hot so affects accuracy.

Enjoy the research.

Appreciated, I am absorbing as much as possible regarding different calibers, BUT....our company's server blocks most Rifle/Gun/Knife sites............no jokes I am serious. So being at work at the mo, I am kind of restricted.
