Okuma Surf 8k, yay or nay?

Hi guys.
Have any of you guys used the Okuma Surf 8k for some rock and surf fishing? Is it a good budget reel? While I'm asking about Okuma...
I'm considering buying the Okuma Wave Power Surf 14ft XH 4-6oz. The reviews say it's a good entry level rod but I would like to hear from anyone who has had some experience using the rod.

I wouldn't recommend an okuma wave power rod.The rod is made of composite graphite.The feeling is cheap.The looks sells it,itlooks nice but when it comes to performance.The rod doesn't have much backbone.Look at the adrenalin triple x range.For the same price you would not go wrong it's a graphite rod and much better quality.Another option look second hand you could get something more decent.Look for atleast a graphite rod.My 2 cents

I have no experience whatsoever with the okuma surf 8k.I have owned and still own various okuma reels.I service my own reels and when it comes long-term use what I can tell is that the okuma reels corrode and wear faster than my shimano,daiwa and penn reels.


If your looking for a great budget but reliable saltwater reel.I will 100% recommend the rovex big boss series.Best value for money in my opinion
