Hi

Anyone got one of these reels? They the smallest I could find to use for ultra light fishing (with a 5'6'' Megaforce rod). Any info would be helpful. Does the salt agree with it or will it kill it...?

From my side it's very smooth and has a great feel to it. Also reasonably priced.

This reel is the smallest I could find. It fits in the palm of my hand... But it feels pretty solid. It was marked at R220 but I got it for R180 at Akals in Durbs.

The Okuma(r) Ignite spinning reel is crafted a graphite frame, rotor and sideplates and a machined aluminum anodized spool. It utilizes multi-disk, Japanese-oiled felt drag washers and 4 ball bearings for enhanced smoothness.

Hey bra, that would be a lekka setup for blind canal hey :::S. Get stripped by a sprat! How fun....

Hey 100% as long as you wash it with freshwater after every trip it will deffinetly hold! You have to do this with any reel, not just okuma (duh!!). Thats a nice setup for light tackle man! My cousin got the same sorta thing, but he got a daiwa crossfire 1000 instead of that okuma. Loaded it with XX 7lb, LOVELY setup for targeting piss willy fish:SSS

Hey I have caught some serious fish on
"piss-willy outfits"
Last one was a 14lb barble on 4lb line - granted took me 20mins and I had to chase him with the boat a fair way

Guys use the right equipment for the job - landing a big fish on that light line is not fun and the fish is "almost finished" by the time it gets to the boat.
I was targeting blues on this setup and got smaked by the barbel

Point taken, but seeing as the biggest fish I've caught in fresh water was under 2kg and i'm using 6lb fireline, I don't think it will be a serious issue...

Managed to get a berkley cherrywood, 4'6''. That thing is tiny. I'm plotting to use it for talapia.

Right tools for the right job - 100% that is the right equipment for the right job.

It's much like taking an elephant out with a .22 it can be done - but it in not really sporting.

but 6lb tackle for kurper is perfect if anything a little heavy........LOL

Ryan i didn't i swear!!!

Mike the fish arent that small:)

Hmmmm....ya bru wateva you say:fst:.....

When my 7ft medium action rod doesnt even bend when a 30cm grunter is on the other end, you should know that Im fishing too heavy. A 2.5kg mullet drills me! But those fish in that blind canal are weak....haha more reasons to buy a new setup!!:spite. Lets see now, want an ultra light rod with a 500 size reel with 3lb line on. Oh how fun that would be! But I dont think I have the heart to get rid of my current setup...love it too much!
