My First Marlin

This picture really still gives me goosebumps when I remember how hard we worked to get our first marlin! I caught this small blue in Richards Bay and was amazed at the beauty of these fish - sheer power and grace. The funny thing with this catch is that I got to fight the fish and leader it as well! All the other crew chickened out so I ended up leadering and releasing this magnificent creature... what a memory!

Welcome to Vertical Jigging!

After a few seasons of light jigging we decided to explore our area for some bigger fish on Vertical Jigging gear. Well I got quite a surprise on my second down when I got completely revved by this beautiful Cape Yellowtail. The fight was awesome and it nearly reefed me twice on full drag! My first fish on vertical jig and a lesson I'll never forget!
