This trip with Jan & Nico was supposed to happen first in last cold season and should have been Popping only, but Nico at the time was busy trolling for Cubera Snapper and I sticked to my plan of popping for Jack Crevalle , Cuda & the odd Cubera Snapper

Nico went back to France and just returned for the Lobito Big Game competition actually, together with his team Delta, taking all the gold

On the celebration dinner we talked again on getting together on the water and like it is summer now I proposed to do a jigging trip and introduce Nico to Amberjack jigging before he would leave again to Paris.
During the week made a call to my good friend Jan "Pargo Man" and talked about reopening the Offshore Jigging Gym for one more exercise session
We met at Luanda port just before 7 AM and left for the GYM, picked up a rod for Nico and some jigs, like I think for first timers a spinning rod is easier explained him the usual spinning from the waist jigging technique and prepared the drift.
Opened a new box of jigs that Mark had just sent me and went on with my faithful SYNIT 250 , JM PE4 reel filled with PE3 while Jan went for is Jigstar 350 paired with is brand new alutecnos
Told the guys we should bring the fish slowly up to the boat to facilitate fish release and I think Jan was the first to break the ice
And soon we both followed
Tried teaching the guys how to make a proper release, head down
This time Jan seemed to have a bigger one on the line
Unfortunately we all got fish at the same time and the pictures had to be taken by Zeca the guy that helps me out with my boat and his photo skills are not the best...
Remember Jan is a big guy, look at the fish head

On top of that he missed the release and the fish went on floating away from the boat but Jan was decided to make shure it would live to fight another day
So he jumped on the water
Spent a couple of minutes with the fish and dived to help it decompress.

Middle of the day we decided to chase some Dorado at the buoys.
Have some great pictures of my first one with the ultra light freshwater Salmon rod and the Sustain 4000

Then switched to the heavier rod
And it went on like that for several hours, jumping from buoy to buoy and getting dorado after dorado on spinning sticks
Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon decided to call it a day and return to home port, the guys were tired and both rested a while during the return run
It really was a long day
