Not just an old wives tale...

Just a 2c word of warning, if you recognize this product on one of your rods and you are in the game of targeting big fish, rather replace now or add the extra reel clamp while fishing. Winch broke after a 4hour fight with a black pylie on skurwes, which we guestimated to be in excess of 200kg, with the dacron of the wind-on already visible above the water.
Tackle was HMG heavy, trini50 with synergy 0.55 line, 20/0 circle.

Needless to point out it is not nice to see your trini flying thru your rod eyes before the line got cut by one of the broken eyes. Requested this winch to be installed on the rod less than a year ago as an bigger/stronger alternative than the thinner fuji winch. (excellent choice of product mr rodbuilder!!)

And so we pay the school fees...hope this will save you some LOL

all the poseidon hmg's has the fugi winch.....
not necessarily.. when those rods get build you can choose which seat you want.

I dont know that particular seat but by the looks of it, its not so good.

what seat is that? and what does it cost?

Hi Guys just a penny for your thoughts!!

Since I started fisheing for eds way before non-eds I use to use the reel clamp that comes in the box, but after picking up some bad habit ( Laziness!!! LOL) I stopped fishing with them even when I started fishing for non-eds. Looks like one should use what they put in the box and it might save all of us some money and heartache in the future!!
Maybe a wakeup call there guys?

Fuji trigger reel seats also break, they are even thinner than the one in the picture, and I think they are actually ment for smaller baitcasting type rods. time to get someone to manufacture heavy duty aluminium trigger whinches for SA market, the other option is to use the 24mm fuji without the trigger as it has got stainless steel bands on both clamps and you can fit a Breakaway coaster as a trigger

forgive me if i'm sounding studid but what are the benefits of replacing the standard winch???, with a bigger winch...

Trini50 and Tyrnos50.

you mean the 22mm trigger with the 24mm non trigger? It is a much stronger winch got stainless steel reinforcing band on both clamps, the trigger winches don't have that and that is exactly where they break like yours did. The 24mm trigger you have on is supposedly stronger than the 22mm Fuji, if it has been proven I don't know, it seems for a Trini 50 size reel you shouldn't use either, there must be crap loads of pressure on that winch with that strong drag
