After years of saving, my first trip is booked for a week to Nosy Be, Madagascar, with a few friends. None of us have ever done anything like this, and, looking at our gear, we also realized that we need better rods and reels. While the guys that are arranging this do have trolling stuff, we have to take with our poping and jigging rods and reels, and all jigs/lures for that purpose. This threat therefore specifically focuses on identifying the best bang for buck rods and reels, our progress (buying our equipment, booking hints and tips as well as some photos afterwards).
I need advice, as, speaking with the "helpful" guy at the closest fishing store, I realize that I can spend R25k just on one rod/reel combo. And that is without line. Recommended lures seemed to add another at least R10k. I have allocated a budget of R50,000 for all new equipment (at least 2 new rods and reels, including all lines, lures etc.). Please help with selecting the best bang for buck stuff for this experience.
