:welcomesea:, there are no stupid questions. Start reading the tip, bait and tackle sections. You also need to know what type of fishing firstly. Light, medium or heavy. Dropshot, spooning and plugging. Start light and work your way up to heavy/sliding for sharks etc. Check out what's happening in the Cape section. Hook up with the guys there and let it flow. Remember start in the beginning. Don't just start buying because you saw someone with a rod or reel. Every fisherman is different. Please do research and consult widely before outlayingyour hard earned cash.   ::slr::

Welcome to the Sealine Club.

Best is Simply to join us at the beach & Water' edge sometime.

I'm regularly down Strandfontein, between Sonwabi(From Sunrise circle, when driving in direction towards Strand, it's first road you can turn off to the right. When you see the 2 dilapidated buildings there, you'll know that's Sonwabi) and Wolfgat.

Everybody's got to start somewhere, but first step is being bold and joining the fishing brigade and see how the guys do it.I was very self concious when starting out at Surf Fishing. But with plenty practice from an every day ,after work, chore of hitting the beach, trying this and that without really fishing, but getting the techniques, etc,in place, definitely pays dividends.

Angling is nowhere as simple as it looks, but that's what makes it more challenging and rewarding.I'm still learning and will never know it all,as there's so many various facets to fishing, spots to fish, etc.

I'll send you a pm with my cell nr.

Lastly, most important tip:Never fish isolated spots where there are no anglers,no cars. You can fish alone, but then select a spot where other anglers are fishing.I ALWAYS meet a new angler every time I fish.Angling is our language and our means to communication and I've yet to come across a true angler that doesn't shoot the breeze regarding angling, fish coming out, etc.
