hi there,

a few mates and myself are going to langebaan for the weekend to do some fishing.

i have fished there and have no idea what fish they catch.

a few of them have been there already and certainly know there stuff.

please advise me where the good fishing spots are and what bait to use.  i certainly do not want to look like a novice.

and of course what fish can be caught.  i am a beginner but do not want to make thAT OBVIOUS.

please help.

thanks

My sounder picks up a lot of activity right next to the yacht club - off the wreck.

Definitely pump for prawn but lately had a bit of luck with pilchard. Make sure the pilchard is frozen and slice the fillets off and cut into strips of about 3cm by 1cm and wrap with ghost cotton.

I caught two major cob 2 weeks ago (profile pick) with pilchard and chokka. (and a lot of sharks - with a bigger set up)

But Scorpio check the tides - you need to pump on the low tide for prawns.

Most of the fishing action will be 2hours on either side of the change of tide.

The bait shop opens at 6:00 so if you have no prawn get white mussel from the shop and use the ghost cotton trick.

Wake up early the wind pumps there...throw lines from 5/6:00am.

My 11:30 you should be having your first beer... and a few fish…keep a fish or two and release the rest so my daughter of 6 can catch a few when she is 21 ;)

Good luck.
