Hi all,

Firstly Kevin999 :welcomesea:

Kevin is looking for venue related information on sites close to Pretoria.

Must be safe with good facilities.

Anyone that can help - along with the right pap and sauce required for the venue

Apologies for missing that out. I am looking primarily for carp at the moment - Bait  Bankside. I am new to fishing, so definitely not specimen. Just trying catch something at this point. Been using mielie bombs with flavoured milies & floaties( banana & almond) I am just trying to get the basics in place, so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks gents

Hi,

Fisrstly - you need to build up confidence. Best place to do so at this stage near PTA is Meerhof (Harties)0836034626 to find out tarifs etc. Security is probably the best around Harties at this stage.

You do not have to be a pro - caster to fish there - ave distance 60 meters. Spot just right of the boat launch.

Trace - Gly Rietvlei
Floatie (Garlic) and dough (plain) on the hook

BomDip Flavors: Banjo, Almond, FX, Devilsfork (very little), Tjop Tjop.

Ok Basics:
Rigs = Gly Rietvlei
Hooks = Daichi no 1
Hookline = 7lb (15cm ave) in the winter you can make the hooklinks 12cm.
Main Rig Line 20lb (about 40cm max length)
Main Line 7lb (if you get confidence up you can move to 5lb main line). Thinner the line further the casting distance.
Leads = Mushroom Type (M1, M2)

Knots:
Knotless knot for tying the hook onto the hooklink
Polmar for tying all Swivels
