Hi Guys

I am a "newbie" to jetski fishing and am finally ready to head out into the "big blue" & try my luck!:ifishin

At the moment I do not know of anyone else fishing off jetski's in the East London / Kei Mouth area and am really keen to find out if there are others ???????????

Are the dropshot and vertical jigging fishing techniques productive in this area (within 1N.M) ,or is it more popular to bottom fish with conventional baits? I have never done dropshotting or vertical jigging before & am really keen to learn! Just don't want to waste my time!

Also ,what species are mostly targeted for trawling?

Any input would be much appreciated!

SO MUCH TO LEARN/SO LITTLE TIME!!!

Thanks

Hi Battle Axe

Congratulations for going the jetski fishing way. I have started fishing on jetski as I  often travel long distances and do not want to tow the boat that far. If I know the surf launching is going to be bad will I only use the jetski as the risk is much less.

Sorry I do not know the area you are planning to fish but find out from the local skiboating fraternity. Jigging and and dropshot fishing requires that you are on top of a reef or otherwise will you waste your time. Get landmarks or coordinates of reefs you intend to fish and use your fishfinder to verify if there is fish on the reef.

You would most probaly have tuna in your area for which you can trawl and garrick in rivermouths for which you can do plugging.  Check the following website as there are also lots of info you can use. www.jetskifishing.co.za

Thanks BigVan

I have not had a chance to wet a line yet ,but am really looking forward to doing it soon!

At last I have managed to get in touch with someone else in the East London area who fishes from his jetski ,so will hopefully be tagging along with him soon. Wish me luck!::S

Cheers for now & "tightlines"
