new outfit

Hey guys I'm looking at getting myself a slightly bigger outfit for spinning in the surf etc
I've got a 8foot vengeance with a sedona 2500 with 10pound braid
But I'm thinking 9 or 10foot with a 4000 reel
Wanna spend about 1500 on setup. Its not gonna work too hard as I'm really into sharking
Any suggestions ?

My best fish todate on the other setup is this skippy
Wow what a pull. Impekweni river

9' Vengance gets some good reviews and paired with a Sedona 4000 and 10lb fireline or 15-20lbs braid it should do the business and meet your budget.
My set up is now only short of the 10lb Fireline and then the Kob are in trouble:spite:spite

Another good rod is the Loomis & Franklin 9' Platinum and there is the Fenwick Eagle GT which if memory serves me correctly is quite well priced(under R1000) It would stretch your budget but it's a really nice stick.

What were the results of the Pullins session?

Once I've got my 9' dropshot set up ready I was going to work Glengarrif to Yellows with some Dropshot. I also need to sort out some 2oz spoons.

Next area will be Pullins or Marshstrand??

I have a very nice 1oz tin spoon but it's a bit light to keep down when targeting Kob in working water.

Thanks DV, always love the look of that bay.
We need to chat about that 2oz tin spoon. I love the tin spoons as you can bend them to match the conditions.

Bandit or somebody like that has done a very nice copy of the toby spoon in 1 & 2oz and they do it in chrome and a brass finish(not sure if it's brass or just coated. I will definately be getting a few. They're about R40ea.

I have a spoon of just over 2 oz and one of just under 3oz. the 3oz is the S spoon with the V back that used to be available in tackle shops but I don't see them around anymore. I made a plaster mould but the mould is now buggered as is my 1oz mould(these 2 spoons are shad slayers of note!!).
I haven't made new mould as I don't have a workshop at home anymore and getting tin is a costly and sometimes frustrating exercise(it's often too hard!!).

Sorry for the hijack Boep but this is related to getting started ;)

There are mostly at night though, but have you got a gun because that place is bad??

Rocklyffe surf also holds lots of Kob but dropshot in the surf is a wet, risky business. Wading to the lip where Raggies lurk then worrying about rip currents and getting dumped:fbash:fbash

You the one who drives a Ford, No one would steal that::S::S

Winterstrand side is not too bad, I'll park there but no way will I park Cove Rock to Hickmans side. I think the Igoda side of Winterstrand is where the problems are.
