Just heard I'm going to New Machavie this weekend for a family get together,


How is the fishing spot? is it worth taking the rods?
Is there bass or carp? or some big cats?

New Machawie (Just past Potchefstroom) Fished there many years ago (Late 1990s), lovely carp, yellows & cats. Take your rods.

So how was the fishing?

Reached on Saturday, about 8am, my family stayed over from friday night, kids were having the time of their lives with the silvers, only eating sweetcorn outta the can.

Sunday morning was the same story, with the smallies,

Until we had a lucky bite on a 5kg carp. What a fight.

New machavie is nice place, the only thing is the snags. loosing 1 trace every 6 casts.

No need to throw far.
