:imnewHi all sealiners,great site ,wealth of knowledge!!!!

Im looking to buy a fishing kite but have  achoice between two{mullers and hi-fly)

would apreciate if anybody has one of these kites for info or any info on tacking the kites,have built  a few for the lakes but keen on surf launching the baits

I'm also Interested In Kite fishing - does anyone Have an Idea what irgs are required , and if One can basically use th eite to take Out the Bait and then have it release it , out to sea , instead of dangling from the 2 Liter bottle , the diagram of which i saw on the Hiflykites site ??

Dinglehopper is great- but That price-tag puts me off completely .......

I restarted with my Kite in June this year.

For bait fishing for edibles or deploying a whoe mackie for example you can use a small kite called a bait taxi that flies up your line till it hits a stopper then it deploys the bait and folds down the taxi kite and it runs back down the kite line to the rod (www.windsongkites.co.za) (kites R145 65x65cm and R250 for 1m x1m [low wind kite])

I bought myself a whole batch of AFTCO outrigger clips these you attach where the dropper line would be and you hang your bait and sinker instead of the kite bottle send the kite out and it drags the bait along, when the bait is where you want it tighten up and strike and the clip drops your bait of.

The last is the AFTCO Roller Troller clip (Kitefisher's one is on it's way from the USA). basically you send the kite out while holding your rod in one hand and the lure/bait in the other. Once it's out where you want it you can now troll your bait / lure out to under the kite (line running over a roller) Once it gets out there and it's for example over a reef you can now vertical jig or reel it up to the clip, strike and it drops out and you troll back to the beach.

When you get skilled at flying your windsong kite you can get it out to where you want it and by applying tension and releasing tension you can tack into and down wind with the
lure effectively tolling parralel to the beach at that stage (50-70m at a time) or if the be beach is long enough stroll down the beach with the lure trolling behind it, I caught a beautiful garrick in the backline like that at St Lucia. When the fish strike and the pressure is added to the roller troller the line releases and you're on.

I'm waiting for an opportunity to get to macassar on a Good NW and send out a huge bait on a full metal trace with no slide and see what happens.
