DD... I reckon this "NEW BRAID" is what we get in SA as Berkley Whiplash Pro... certainly looks the same, and is exactly the same diameter. Whiplash it seems is only found in SA? Could never find it anywhere on the net....?

Maybe that's why it's so bloody expensive, it's made specifically for South Africa.

Is it better to use the flat braid or the round one? Does it make a difference to the casting?

I read somewhere that Berkley Whiplash Pro has been discontinued for some time. Wondering if it isn't a case of SA receiving old stock. I did, however, come across something called Berkley Whiplash Crystal, also at 0.17mm diameter for 50 pounds breaking strain, and I'm thinking that this is the newer Berkley product for the deepsea jigging crowd, which we will of course adapt and use as backing. Only difference between the Crystal and the Pro seems to be the colour.
