i am 1.7 m tall looking to buy the possibly lightest rod for rock and surf

fishing  for eds,and idea which rod is the lightest when i put on a gw50 and a five oz

i dont want hold onto heavy rods for too long

as i hate it when the sea is dead

any ideas

also does the height influence the length of rod i should buy

Nash , im 1.78 and for the long standing sessions i use a loomis & franklin shockwave 13.6 with a gw 40 which feels pretty balanced and light plus if u use the rod bucket makes it easier too, also have a look at the beachmaster lite, also a rod u can stand with for a while as its not too heavy .

try the 350/1 or /2 purglass, its superlight and wont tire you out standing whole day with it,throws a 5oz well and not too unbalanced with a gw50

tight lines

The lightest rod that i have fished with in that length is a blue marlin T53 slimline. The 400/4 should be perfect, do yourself a favour and pick one up and feel how light it is! Also the sl50 is a bit big if u wanna throw 5 oz sinkers, you will throw much better with a 30 or 40 size reel

Hey nash, tell you what, dont discount the blue marlin g3 4:6, its awesome. Got one too, catch all sorts with it and you can choose a tip to match you targeted species too. Goes for a really affordable price and will go well with the gw50. Just my couple zim$

Got to agree with you there OH! I had a look at the slimline T53 4-6oz at Gremlins earlier this year, what a wicked blank! Will make for an excellent edible rod.
