Hi Everyone,

My best tjom is getting married on 23 September this year and I have been appointed best-man for the event.

I want to shy away from the traditional - get pissed and strippers type bachelors, and was toying with the following ideas. Most of the guys attending the bachelors are keen fishermen and espeially my mate (being a doctor he has not had the chance to go fishing in the last 2 years and the poor chap is living in Cape Town)

Option 1:

Deep-sea fishing charter. Two main problems. Firstly if all the guys attend we will be looking at 16 men (I only expect about 12 or so to pitch due to Gauteng Cape town travels etc, and I am planning on doing this thing the 1st weekend in September) - we will probably need more than 1 boat (not ideal).

Secondly, the weather in and around Cape Town is dodgy that time of year. I Don't want to book a charter and have it cancelled due to weather.

By the way I am planning this in the vicinity of Strand, Gordon's Bay (False Bay) region.

Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Option 2:

Rock & Surf fishing day possibly with the guidance of one of our South African celebrity anglers (Hennie Papenfuss, Wesley Rapson etc.). I don't even know if these guys will do that sort of thing - as I am sure they are as busy as hell with their own productions of TV episodes dvd's etc - but I can only ask.

Our guide does not need to be a celebrity - any suggestions for guys that really know their thing would be much appreciated.

Once again foul weather might present a problem, but at least it won't mean that the day has to be cancelled - most guys will be strong enough to tackle a couple of hours of wet foul weather on the beach/rocks.

ANY advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and as a sweetner I will be offering mana to all that help in this regard.

Hey Mike/Noweeds

Thanks for the response. I've seen Ankie's contact on Hennie's dvd and I will look him up. I'll PM my cell - contacts would be much apreciated.

Noweeds:

I want to see if I can plan the fishing for Saturday the 1st of Sep. As Mike said "weekend work".

Mike:

If you are around and wanna come fish with us that Saturday it would be awesome. Would be nice to meet some of the okes here on the forum, in person.

Once again thanks for the replies.
